Rewards and Recognitions

I am very proud to work for a company, that not only allows me to conduct this business around my family life and career but also gives rewards and recognitions, to their sales force on the ground.

We recently had our annual (virtual) conference and I was awarded the following accolades:

Consistency Award

The consistency award recognises one sale a month over a period of time. This award was launched 3-years ago, so I’ve been marked as someone who has been consistent for over 36-months.

As an Advisor and Team Leader, it’s one I strive for myself and also encourage my entire team to achieve.

Someone who is consistent always behaves in the same way has the same attitudes towards people or things or achieves the same level of success in something. One sale a month means that the business is viable and the time we take investing in our business activity reaps rewards.

As a Team Leader, I need to make 3 sales to keep my Team Leader status, but what I try and set my team is the aspirational goal of one sale as the first step each month to their business.

Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.

Tony Robbins

Diamond Team Leader

Diamond status was also launched 3-years ago, and I’m delighted to keep my diamond status this year.  Diamond status Advisors enjoy a higher income plan when they achieve 70+ sales in a calendar year from January-December.

When initially launched in September 2018 for the following year, I made my 70th sale on 31st December 2018, by the skin of my teeth. In 2019, I achieve 70 sales by October and last year by August.

I can see my own success mirrored by other Advisors in the UK as Thermomix awareness grows in the UK. In the first year, only 15 UK Advisors achieved diamond status. This went up to 85 the following year and 150 in 2020.

I have been in this business since 2009, when hardly anyone in the UK had heard of Thermomix and when there were so few Advisors on the ground, we were just known by our names. As the years have gone by, this hobby has turned into a passion into a viable business. I have seen 2 new Thermomix launched;  the Thermomix TM5 and TM6 and accessories such as the Thermomix Friend released. I have seen our company grow from a small, family-run subsidiary to being 100% owned subsidiary of Vorwerk with 16 branch offices and over 2,000 Advisors.

And yet, there’s more to come. Lots more for Thermomix and Vorwerk in the UK to strive for. We only have 1% awareness in the UK, so you can imagine even if we double, triple, quadruple over business over the next 3-5 years, there’s a whole load of customers still to reach.

Level 6 Achiever Award

And finally, I achieved the Level 6 Achiever Award for 500 sales and 20 recruits. This level was started way back in September 2014 when the Thermomix TM5 was launched, so that is 500 sales of both Thermomix TM5 and Thermomix TM6s, plus 20 qualified, new recruits to the business.

I’m most proud of this recruitment record. That means I have personally helped twenty people into this business, giving them the opportunity to earn their own Thermomix by enrolling in the earn and demonstrate program. Many of these Advisors have gone on to earn their Thermomix TM5 with 4 sales and then have a viable business; many went onto earn their Thermomix TM6s too when that was launched in 2019. It’s a true honour bringing new team members into the business and showing them that the sky is the limit. As self-employed Thermomix Advisors, we don’t have any minimum job criteria such as in a degree or minimum GCSE or A-Level requirements, 1-2 years of sales experience, or language pre-requisites. All we ask is that the person, male or female is aged over 18-years old and puts in time and effort into their Thermomix business. We provide the training and support and then the sky is the limit.

To end this post, with a final thank you. To you. My customers. My potential customers. My referrals. None of this would be possible with all of you amazing customers. Thank you.

You are the heart and soul of my business. Simply speaking, there would be no me without you. Your loyalty means everything to me. Thank you for being a customer!

Thermomix and Thermomix Friend

Why it’s important to buy a Thermomix through an Advisor

Since the lockdown, one is able to purchase a Thermomix TM6 (not the customer offers) online via the Thermomix website. However, I do not recommend this. It is important to buy a Thermomix through an Advisor. This article gives you all the reasons why.

You as a customer pay the same price. You are financially the same whether you buy online or via an Advisor BUT the benefits buying via the Advisor network outweigh an online purchase.

Why buying through an Advisor is beneficial to you?

  1. We are historically and continue to be a direct sales channel. I’m sure we all remember well-established door-to-door companies like Avon or Amway. Well, Vorwerk is a direct sales company too and the third-largest in the world. A direct sales approach to marketing and distribution means that when you enquire about a Thermomix, attend a demonstration or buy a Thermomix by an Advisor, you are treated like a king (or queen). Thermomix Advisors are all self-employed and running our businesses to the best of our ability. Each enquiry means the world to us. It’s our name, our reputation, and long-term business at stake so we treat you with respect, honesty, and transparency. I believe customers appreciate that.
  2. Thermomix demonstrations and cooking experiences, which are normally face-to-face but currently virtual are not only important but essential.  Can you imagine walking into a store, looking at a Thermomix on display, and dropping £1000 down? No, you will walk away. A demonstration shows you the full functionality of the Thermomix and how it can be used in your kitchen. It’s personalised to make sure you get the most out of your Thermomix investment.
  3. Even if you are a previous Thermomix owner and know it already, there’s value in seeing a new demonstration. How many times have I heard the fact that one is a Thermomix owner, but only uses it once or twice? The value of being with an Advisor like me is that I regularly host virtual cooking experiences and with my team run cooking classes. Being attached to an Advisor means that you will have access to these events all the time, for the longevity of your ownership. So even if you have a Thermomix TM31 or TM5 and thinking about an upgrade, have a demonstration to understand the reasons why you should or shouldn’t be upgrading. I don’t believe in upselling at all. If you already have a Thermomix and it’s right for you to upgrade, I will tell you that. If it isn’t, I will also advise that.
  4. Thermomix Advisors understand the long-term benefits of owning a Thermomix. Most Thermomix Advisors are owners first and foremost, and then became Advisors or Consultants due to their love & passion for Thermomix and wanting to share it. We understand that most customers have excitement and a honeymoon period when first buying a gadget or appliance, but we also have experience of the long-term relationship with your Thermomix. We speak from experience when we tell you, you should never put your Thermomix away in a closet or cabinet. It should be on your counter-top so you will use it every day. Unlike most other appliances, once you use it daily, you will use it multiple times. The Thermomix is an appliance that usage increases over time.
  5. Post-purchase, your Thermomix Advisor is your first point of contact. This can include anything from helping you set up your Thermomix with a welcome visit, going through some new user hints & tips in a follow-up phone call, hosting a demonstration for your friends and family to ensure you get referral & host incentives. I am here to offer suggestions for your first recipes in a Thermomix to help you menu plan for the week.  I’ve also been called and left voice messages from clients asking if this ‘noise’ sounded normal, only to call them back and be told the recipe was delicious.

Summary

Thermomix Advisors are ready to help you, answer questions from you. You might contact us by phone, email, or  WhatsApp, via our social media accounts, or simply be referred to us via one of our clients. As our Thermomix Businesses are our own businesses, we are also available 24/7 and not restricted to weekday office hours. We do whatever it takes for you to have a positive experience from enquiry to purchase and post-sales follow-up. And because we know that the Thermomix is a lifetime purchase, we are committed to our 5-star service throughout your ownership.

Disclaimer

All Advisor are self-employed. We share with your our time, our experience, our expertise, and our passion for Thermomix. We are not employed on a salary. We only earn commissions when a customer purchases a Thermomix and acknowledges us as their Advisor.  So please, if you have a demonstration, in-person or virtually, then please go back to the Advisor to complete your purchase. If you don’t have an Advisor, then I would be more than happy to look after you.

Our biggest reward isn’t a financial one. It’s a happy Thermomix owner.

First recipes to make in your Thermomix

So you’ve just purchased your Thermomix and with Cookidoo at your fingertips, here’s my top 5 first recipes to make in your Thermomix in your first few days.

  1. bluebird-provisions-CjmlUpo3eAw-unsplashVegetable Stock Paste  Ever wanted to make your own vegetable stock!? Well, now you can — no hidden ingredients, no additives, just delicious. This makes a great starter for soups, curries, stews, pot pies, and for adding flavour to grains while they cook. Even better, I love to use whatever vegetables are in the bottom of my fridge draw or when you are a seasoned Thermomix user, you will have a bag of vegetable scraps and peelings in the freezer ready to go. https://cookidoo.co.uk/recipes/recipe/en-GB/r39219
  2. Banana bread Moist and delicious banana bread recipe. Easy to make, this is the perfect first cake to make in your Thermomix  Ripe bananas, butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, baking soda, and flour. https://onegirlandherthermie.co.uk/hummingbird-bakery-banana-bread/
  3. Risotto Risotto is a northern Italian rice dish cooked with broth until it reaches a creamy consistency. The broth can be derived from meat, fish, or vegetables. Many types of risotto contain butter, onion, white wine, and parmesan cheese. It is one of the most common ways of cooking rice in Italy. There are hundreds of risotto recipes on Cookidoo but this Courgette and Feta Risotto is among my favourite recipes for two reasons, hiding vegetables in food that my kids would never eat. They dislike courgettes, yet in this recipe  it’s so delicious, that they don’t even know what they are eating. And for adults and parents out there,  this is a winner. https://cookidoo.co.uk/recipes/recipe/en-GB/r128889
  4. vita-marija-murenaite-eSeo6IzOV00-unsplashPizza The reason I choose this as it’s another meal that’s super easy in the Thermomix and can be adjusted to all taste buds. Pizza Margherita is a typical Neapolitan pizza, made with San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, salt and extra-virgin olive oil. Everyone loves a staple pizza and if you are more adventurous just add the various toppings you prefer. Everyone is happy. https://cookidoo.co.uk/recipes/recipe/en-GB/r39452
  5. Frozen strawberry daiquiri I’ll always remember doing a demonstration to clients who were gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free. I spent most of the demonstration talking about the health benefits of the Thermomix and how it could help their healthy-eating lifestyle. I’ll always remember the first recipe they made, daiquiris. So I include it here a great final choice, why not, it makes a fabulous cocktail too. https://cookidoo.co.uk/recipes/recipe/en-GB/r126704
Whatever you make, I do hope you enjoy your first few days with your latest gadget. Do drop me note to let me know what you’ve been cooking in the comments section below.

Thermomix is a direct sales business

How many times have I been asked if Thermomix is a pyramid scheme so I wanted to set the record straight; we are a direct sales business. Thermomix is a direct sales business. Let me explain.

Direct selling is selling products directly to consumers in a non-retail environment. Instead, sales occur at home, work, online, or other non-store locations. That is why as a Thermomix Advisor and Team Leader, we offer demonstrations, called Cooking Experiences to showcase the product. This in non-Covid times is a face-to-face demonstration at your home or mine, whether we cook three or four recipes in the comfort of a home environment and you get to see, touch, hear, smell and taste the recipes we cook together. In Covid-times, we have also gone online offering a virtual cooking experience via Zoom.

Having been an Advisor for over 12-years and sold to countless delighted customers, I love to think the sales process is enjoyable, pressure-free but gives you a chance to make informed purchase decisions. Some customers buy on the spot – even halfway through the demonstration, others take the time to make this considered purchase – a day later, a week, a month…I have customers who have even come back to me 5 years later. Don’t believe me? Please read my independent Google reviews.

How direct selling works

Direct selling eliminated several intermediaries involved in product distribution, such as regional distribution or wholesales. Instead, products go straight from the manufacturer to the direct sales company, then to the distributor or representation, and then finally to the consumer. The products sold through direct sales channels are usually not found in typical retail stores, which means finding a rep is the only method to buy the product.

Sounds like Thermomix, doesn’t it? Yes, absolutely. In this case, Vorwerk is the manufacturer of Thermomix and actually wholly own their direct sales channels and distribution network. Around the world, we have regional offices which are subsidiaries of Vorwerk; here in the UK, it is Vorwerk UK our head office. I am an authorised and recognised agent of Thermomix UK, which is why I have an Advisor ID: 8000000068 (previously 210220044).

Direct selling takes place when individual salespeople reach out to consumers. In the Thermomix business model, we use the single-level and host or party-plan model to achieve this, and Advisors are paid a commission on closed sales.

Thermomix Cooking Experiences

Single-level direct sales are performed one-on-one through an in-person presentation or online meeting. Host or party plans are made in a  group setting, usually involving the agent going to the potential customers’ homes.

I personally, offer and enjoy both.

Hosting a Thermomix Cooking Experience with 3 friends enables you to qualify for a host gift which could be a Thermomix cook or branded accessory, but it also allows you and your friends to have groupthink. Having friends around may encourage them to ask questions, that you alone may not have considered. That can be useful. Plus, there’s also enough food from the demonstration once I have left to enjoy a nice lunch or dinner with your guests; after all, we do cook a 3-course meal in under 45 minutes in the kitchen, so think of it as a private dinner party where we cook your meal. It’s usually the host who may make a purchase decision first as they have researched the Themromix or are familiar with it, which is why they are hosting a demo in the first place, but occasionally guests do buy too at a later date.

However, for those not keen on getting a group together, I am always happy to do one-to-ones with your immediate household too. The advantage of that is that I can really personalise the demonstration to you and your needs, and get to know you. After one-to-ones, I not only come out of a demonstration, usually with a sale but also a friend too having spent one and half hours with you swapping holiday & travel tips, school recommendations, or decorating tips. I often come out of one-to-one, not as the sales representative of Thermomix but as a customer myself, buying services from you; anything from booking a family photoshoot, locking in a solicitor for house conveyancing, or music tuition recommendations, so you never know where the demonstration will take you or me. It’s one of the things I love best about this role. It’s a chance to meet like-minded individuals and spend a few hours getting to know them.

Direct sales sometimes are mistakenly referred to as multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing, but these terms are not interchangeable. While MLM and network marketing are a form of direct sales, not all direct sales systems involve MLM. For instance, in the Thermomix transaction, which I would call single-level marketing, the sales agent is only paid a commission on the sale they personally make – i.e. a sale of a Thermomix. We do not take any commission on any accessories or books that you buy at the point of sale or later on. I am very clear about that. I believe in being transparent and honest. It’s also the reason why many of my customers refer me to their friends and family, neighbours, and work colleagues.

This is the same reason we are not a pyramid scheme. Most pyramid schemes will keep the income stream going by charging fees and requiring distributors to regularly purchase a certain amount of products – even if they don’t need it. Again, once you have bought your Thermomix, that’s it. (Unless you want another or an upgrade…)

There is a recruitment opportunity, but we only mention that as a method of purchasing. There are 3 ways to buy a Thermomix. One payment, Ikano finance and Earn and demonstrate program as I did. I have been an Advisor for so long, that we have had upgrades during my time in the business. So whilst, I did purchase my very first Thermomix as a customer and then became an Advisor. In the past, I have earned by Thermomixes by selling in an incentive period and this is a great way to either join the business for the business opportunity or earn your Thermomix so pay with your time, not your wallet.

Benefits of direct selling

The beauty of a direct sales business like Thermomix, especially in the current climate, direct selling offers important benefits to people who want an opportunity to earn income and build a business of their own. In these uncertain COVID times, it’s the perfect opportunity to earn a little extra on the side, if you have been furloughed or made redundant, and looking for a stop-gap until you find your next job.

So like well-established direct sales companies such Amway or Avon, Vorwerk/Thermomix is just like any other business opportunity where you have honest, hard-working individuals selling a fabulous product they truly believe in. Someone who just wants to do good, honest work. Anyone can be an Advisor and I have men and women in my team, who work full-time, part-time, or were house persons before they took this role. The role fits in around their main career and family life. We have all ages and all ethnicities. But together we form the most amazing and supportive team. We form a Thermomix family.

Your sales representative or Thermomix Advisor in this instance is a known entity. A real person. When someone makes an inquiry, has a cooking experience with me, or purchases, I save your details. Not in a stalker way, but it means that if you email, call or text me, you don’t have to explain who you are and go through identity checks to an unknown call-centre operative before you explain why you are contacting me. I already know who you are and we can just take it from there.

My name is Ankita. I have been a Thermomix owner for over 12-years and an Advisor just 2-months shy of that. I live and breathe Thermomix and that’s why I am an Advisor; to share my passion for this innovative kitchen robot with anyone who eats. I hope you’ll join me on this Thermomix Advisor journey.

Contact me at Ankita@onegirlandherthermie.co.uk, or call/ text/ Whatsapp on 07977  563537, if you would like to join the business, book a Thermomix demonstration with me or place an order with me.

Covid_19 Update Thermomix Demonstrations

I am thrilled to announce that I am now officially back offering face-to-face Thermomix demonstrations! I’ve had the pleasure of doing virtual Thermomix demonstrations during the lockdown, but with more and more people wanting home demonstrations,   I thought it is now the right time to let you know how my sessions are going to look post-lockdown (aka the COVID-19 update).

As I work closely with my clients, either in their homes or in my home, with adults and children around, it is my duty to ensure all clients are protected during their session with me. Therefore during every demonstration, I will be wearing a face mask and will sanitise my hands as soon as I enter your house. I also ask everyone attending the demonstration to wash their hands before we start cooking. This is not a COVID-thing; we always and have always washed our hands before we cook. This is food safety and luckily, it falls into Covid safety rules too.

Usually, we ask you 2 guests from another household. In these times, I will not ask you or pressure you to invite friends. We will keep to the government guidelines of 2 households (yours and mine) meeting indoors and continue to maintain social distancing when we meet.

We continue to cook 3-recipes for your Thermomix introduction, ingredients as usual provided by you. The first recipe demonstrated by me and the remaining two, I will let members of your household conduct independently guided by me.

My Thermomix will be cleaned and sterilised before all demonstrations, and while I have put extra safety measures to make our demonstration safe and enjoyable, I will ask that you help me achieve this too.

  1. If you or any member of the household, have been in contact with anyone who has displayed the COVID-19 symptoms (a cough, a fever and/or a loss of smell/taste) or if you feel unwell (even mildly) before your demonstration, please contact me as soon as possible to reschedule. I understand that this may be an inconvenience but in this situation, it is better to reschedule our session than to risk anyone’s health.
  2. If you become unwell within 7 days after your demonstration, please let me know immediately even if you feel it is only mild.
  3. On the same note, if I or any member of my household displays COVID-19 symptoms or feels unwell, I will have to postpone our session.

Please don’t let all of this scare you though! These are crazy times we live in right now but as long as we follow the rules and be respectful of each other, we can continue to work with each other. And please don’t hesitate to book a demonstration with me – whether it’s for an initial demonstration of Thermomix TM6 or if you bought from me during lockdown and would like an in-person welcome visit.  It is easier to book it and rearrange it, if needs be, then to let to keep thinking I wish I had seen a demonstration.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon – l’m looking forward to see you soon!

Highlights of BBC Good Food Show with Thermomix

As an Advisor, we sometimes get to help Thermomix UK at national events. Luckily in London, there’s quite a few and here are some of my highlights of the Good Food Show at Excel, in June.

Always packed with seasonal produce, ideas for al-fresco dining and hundreds of exciting producers and brands to shop from, get all the summer inspiration you need. Soak up expert masterclasses, live demos from the seasonal stages and much more. There Mary BerryTom KerridgeMichel Roux JrNadiya Hussain and James Martin (a Thermomix fan favorite) as they cooked up summer feasts in The Big Kitchen.

Attending events like this is a great way to practice our ‘elevator pitches’ but also a great opportunity to meet other Advisors from other teams, hang out with head office staff and celebrity chefs and actually treat it like a team bonding exercise. As a self-employed individual, we often work alone so exhibitions like this allow us all to be together and hang. The one thing I truly like about this role is what a great bunch of people we are. There are so many reasons people are drawn to the role – either their love for food or their family circumstances, extra income or a step towards a career if they don’t have one. But the reason, they stay in the business is the people. We are a really great bunch of supportive men and women, who genuinely care about well-being, healthy eating and each other.

Here are some of the highlights over the years:

James Martin cutting the ribbon at Birmingham Good Food Show

Thermomix Ladies welcoming visitors to our stand

Natarsha Lambie giving out some samples

Getting to meet the chefs at the stand. Here’s Cyrus Todiwala who came to tell us how much he loves his Thermomixes!

Quick demo recipes of herb breadcrumbs – bread, parmesan and herbs – it smells delicious

Advisors sneaking in a selfie

Enjoying talking to customers

Watching the chefs in action; Cyrus Todiwala of Cafe Spice Namaste

Thermomix Advisor Testimonial by Cheryl Carman

I sometimes ask my team to write a Thermomix Advisor Testimonial of what it’s like being an Advisor on my team. Usually, they are short, but Cheryl, wrote this. It was too good not to share in it’s entirety.

Thanks to Cheryl Carman for such an honest review.

My TM Advisor Testimonial

I can hardly believe it’s just over a year since I finished my training and was let loose on friends and family, new TM5 by my side. And what a year it’s been!

I sold my first Thermomix on the first day of my 90-days programme to my brother-in-law, a total skeptic who was completely won-over once he took part in the demo. I can scarcely remember experiencing such an adrenaline rush as in that first demo and my absolute amazement and delight when my brother-in-law bought one.

Since then, there have been some high highs and some low lows. Don’t be fooled into thinking the role is a walk in the park. If you love the Thermomix, you’ll probably think it sells itself. I wish!

It actually requires a lot of hard work. As well as constantly having to generate new demos, doing the demos, welcome visits, new user and wish list visits, there are weekly team meetings to attend, Open Days with any of your new recruits, admin tasks and, very importantly, maintaining contact with all your customers to keep them up-to-date with TM developments and happy.

In my experience, every demo is different- and that is one of the things that, while challenging, I have to say, I love.

To me, as a retired teacher who always worked in London state secondary schools, the demo is a cross between a lesson (and not always an easy one), playing a part on stage (I have done that too, in another life) and a sometimes slightly out-of-control party. Some are more one thing than the other, but everyone I’ve demonstrated to over the year, apart from 2 people, has been absolutely wowed by the TM5. And that feels brilliant every time.

Why don’t they all purchase, then? Well, that’s another story. You’ll learn more if you train and as you become more experienced, but it can be very frustrating, especially at first.

One of the great things though has been all of the new people I’ve got to know. First off, the really lovely other advisors you meet as part of your team and in others’. There is always someone to offer you help or at least a listening ear.

I am a reluctant cook, to say the least, and there are a few like me who become advisors, who cook because they have to, but many more who LOVE cooking and are extremely accomplished.  We, of course, have mutual respect and I’ve learned a lot along the way. It perfectly illustrates that wherever you stand in relation to cooking, TM5 can be an absolute joy to own. I can never love mine enough!

Then, there are all the people you demonstrate to. Every advisor has their stories. Mine includes an absolutely joyous occasion with a group of Madeiran and Portuguese people. No-one has bought yet from that demo, but what a fantastically warm and enlivening three hours I spent with them.

Another extraordinary experience for me was showing the Thermomix to a group of elderly people in sheltered housing. I would not easily have come into contact with them, certainly not for a 2 and a half hour cooking demo.

Some fell asleep, most couldn’t read the small print in the Guest Questionaire and hardly anyone had the appetite for the food we cooked. But guess what? One lady, full of joix de vivre but with early-stage Alzheimer’s, bought a Thermomix there and then because she could see how it might help her retain some independence in the kitchen while being wheelchair-bound. I was absolutely thrilled.

What else can I tell you?  I’m by no means the most successful advisor in terms of sales and my commission is certainly not going to buy me another London home- or even garage space. But that’s fine. I have a little pot of money after a year which is gradually accruing and, while my friends who’ve seen my demonstrations tell me I’m “to the Manor born” as an advisor, there is no doubt that, at times, the role has also taken me quite a long way out of my comfort zone.

Finally, my advice would be this. Once you’ve seen a demo, sign up for an Open Day. Go, find out more, and ask lots of questions. Consider doing what I did by attending a TM cooking class so that you can talk to other advisors. I think you’ll know if you want to give it a go, if not now, then perhaps in the future. If you do decide to take the plunge, I wish you very good luck.

You may well become an advisor who flies and, with the proceeds from your Thermomix business, starts to save for that outlandishly expensive London home- or whatever else it is that floats your boat.  Alternatively, you may just be like me, still quietly in the game. Either way, it could be you in a year or so’s time, reflecting on your unique experiences as a Thermomix advisor and writing your own testimonial for your team leader’s website.
