Thermomix Advisor FAQ

Thermomix Advisor Testimonial: Cheryl Carman

I sometimes ask my team to write a Thermomix Advisor Testimonial of what it’s like being an Advisor on my team. Usually, they are short, but Cheryl wrote this. It was too good not to share in its entirety.

Thanks to Cheryl Carman for such an honest review.

My TM Advisor Testimonial

I can hardly believe it’s just over a year since I finished my training and was let loose on friends and family, a new TM5 by my side. And what a year it’s been!

I sold my first Thermomix on the first day of my 90-days program to my brother-in-law, a total skeptic who was completely won over once he took part in the demo. I can scarcely remember experiencing such an adrenaline rush as in that first demo and my absolute amazement and delight when my brother-in-law bought one.

Since then, there have been some high highs and some low lows. Don’t be fooled into thinking the role is a walk in the park. If you love Thermomix, you’ll probably think it sells itself. I wish!

It actually requires a lot of hard work. As well as constantly having to generate new demos, doing the demos, welcome visits, new user and wish list visits, there are weekly team meetings to attend, Open Days with any of your new recruits, admin tasks and, very importantly, maintaining contact with all your customers to keep them up-to-date with TM developments and happy.

In my experience, every demo is different- and that is one of the things that, while challenging, I have to say, I love.

To me, as a retired teacher who always worked in London state secondary schools, the demo is a cross between a lesson (and not always an easy one), playing a part on stage (I have done that too, in another life) and a sometimes slightly out-of-control party. Some are more one thing than the other, but everyone I’ve demonstrated to over the year, apart from 2 people, has been absolutely wowed by the TM5. And that feels brilliant every time.

Why don’t they all purchase, then? Well, that’s another story. You’ll learn more if you train and as you become more experienced, but it can be very frustrating, especially at first.

One of the great things though has been all of the new people I’ve got to know. First off, the really lovely other advisors you meet as part of your team and in others. There is always someone to offer you help or at least a listening ear.

I am a reluctant cook, to say the least, and there are a few like me who become advisors, who cook because they have to, but many more who LOVE cooking and are extremely accomplished.  We, of course, have mutual respect and I’ve learned a lot along the way. It perfectly illustrates that wherever you stand in relation to cooking, TM5 can be an absolute joy to own. I can never love mine enough!

Then, there are all the people you demonstrate to. Every advisor has their story. Mine includes an absolutely joyous occasion with a group of Madeiran and Portuguese people. No one has bought yet from that demo, but what a fantastically warm and enlivening three hours I spent with them.

Another extraordinary experience for me was showing the Thermomix to a group of elderly people in sheltered housing. I would not easily have come into contact with them, certainly not for a 2-and-a-half-hour cooking demo.

Some fell asleep, most couldn’t read the small print in the Guest Questionaire and hardly anyone had the appetite for the food we cooked. But guess what? One lady, full of joix de vivre but with early-stage Alzheimer’s, bought a Thermomix there and then because she could see how it might help her retain some independence in the kitchen while being wheelchair-bound. I was absolutely thrilled.

What else can I tell you?  I’m by no means the most successful advisor in terms of sales and my commission is certainly not going to buy me another London home- or even garage space. But that’s fine. I have a little pot of money after a year which is gradually accruing and, while my friends who’ve seen my demonstrations tell me I’m “to the Manor born” as an advisor, there is no doubt that, at times, the role has also taken me quite a long way out of my comfort zone.

Finally, my advice would be this. Once you’ve seen a demo, sign up for an Open Day. Go, find out more, and ask lots of questions. Consider doing what I did by attending a TM cooking class so that you can talk to other advisors. I think you’ll know if you want to give it a go, if not now, then perhaps in the future. If you do decide to take the plunge, I wish you very good luck.

You may well become an advisor who flies and, with the proceeds from your Thermomix business, starts to save for that outlandishly expensive London home- or whatever else it is that floats your boat.  Alternatively, you may just be like me, still quietly in the game. Either way, it could be you in a year or so’s time, reflecting on your unique experiences as a Thermomix advisor and writing your own testimonial for your team leader’s website.

Note: After 8 years as an Advisor Cheryl recently stepped down as an Advisor in May 2023. But in her time, she has earned the Thermomix TM5, Thermomix TM6, and a Thermomix Noir Thermomix TM6, Thermomix Friend, as well as countless second bowls, accessories and incentives PLUS commission. But for me, as her Team leader, it is not the commission or the incentives that I recall the most, it’s the friendship we have developed. Cheryl was an intergral part of my team for many years and I loved meeting and catching up with her over a coffee and a cake.

Advisor Incentives

What can I earn as an Advisor: Incentives

The beauty of a Thermomix Advisor, in addition to commissions, is the wonderful incentives we also earn.

I share this not to gloat but to share the business opportunity with people. When you have committed Advisors, who put in the work, time, and dedication to demonstrations, closing sales, recruiting new people to the business and more importantly looking after your customer base, you are not only rewarded by closing sales in this direct sales business but also by added extras.

Often the incentives are accessories or Cookbooks pre-launch, so Advisors have a chance to earn them, use them before we are asked for our honest consumer reviews, so just that in itself is a huge bonus to the Advisor role. Recall the Thermomix Cutter? Thermomix Advisors in the UK had the opportunity to earn this with sales and/ or recruitment drive many, many months before it was launched to customers. What’s more, we have several chances to earn one. You can’t ask for more than that from a company.

Below are some of the examples in a 3-month period of our sales and recruitment incentives this year:

January 2023

Qualifying period 1st January -28th February, 20 Advisors, and 40 Team Leaders were in with a chance for an all-expenses, 4-day trip to Mykonos in May 2023.

Qualifying period 21st-31st January, one sale earned the multi-purpose bowls. This was the first chance these multi-purpose bowls were introduced to the market before they were released as a customer purchase incentive in July later this year.

Qualifying period 21st-31st January achieved AND 1st-7th February a second sale earned the trolley bag. We are   given a travel bag as our Advisor business pack. But having one on wheels, is especially handy for those in London or who take public transport when going to demonstrations.

February 2023

Mykonos’ qualifying period continued, so for ‘big’ travel incentives like this, we have a longer period to qualify.

Qualifying period 1st -28th February,

  • 1 sale earned the newest Cookbook, Free From, and nut milk bags, worth £35
  • 2 sales earned £100 e-voucher to use in our Advisor Portal, £100
  • 3 Sales also earned the VC100 Kobold Handheld Vacuum Cleaner worth £130

Reminder, that this is in addition to commission on sales. So for 3 sales which equates to £515 in commission, you also can earn an extra £265 in Advisor incentives.

March 2023

Fast Start Qualifying period 1-3rd March, the Advisor or Team Leader with the highest number of Personal Sales will earn a Thermomix Samonsite Backpack.

The head office often do this and it’s a great way to have a great month starting off quick and fast off the starting block. It also means its about being the quickest off the start line. This is open to everyone in the branch whether they have just joined or been in the business for a while and I really love the inclusivity of it.

Qualifying period 1-31st March, we had a number of Advisor incentives.

  • For 2 sales OR 1 sale + 1 Qualified Recruit, we could a Thermomix Tool Kit
  • For 3 sales OR 2 sales + 1 Qualified Recruit, we could earn a Thermomix Cutter AND a Thermomix Cleaning Brush
  • For 4 sales or 3 sales + 1 Qualified Recruit, we could earn a Thermomix Mixing Bowl

As you can see there is a lot on offer.

A sales incentive plan is a way to motivate and reward salespeople for reaching and exceeding their sales goals. It’s used in addition to a standard compensation plan. It’s part of the business I love. I love to earn ‘extras’ whether that is a branded pen or baseball cap to the big ticket items like a trip. It drives me to push myself that one step further and see the results. It’s there, you know what you can earn, the goal given to you at the beginning of the month, now you just have to plan how to achieve it.

Advisor incentive programs  also make sellers feel valued. Direct sellers who feel valued are encouraged to keep up a high level of performance. If incentives are offered in the spirit of recognizing a job well done, they go a long way toward improving a worker’s sense of fulfillment, loyalty and retention.   I have team member who once said to me, “Ankita, I’m only joining to earn my new Thermomix TM6”. She was upgrading from a Thermomix TM31. But as soon as she did, another incentive came her way to earn a Thermomix Friend, then a diary and a new Cookbook etc. Three-years later she is still happily demonstrating.
Never underestimate your own ability to do more. We all have one more sale in us to reach the next commission and incentive level.
We are actively recruiting new Advisors all over the UK. Do get in touch if you are looking to join the business. You will join my team if you are in the East London area, but if you are elsewhere, I’ll put you in touch with a local Team Leader to look after you.

TM4U

How does the Thermomix Newcomer Training work?

Our earn for free with Thermomix is a great program to start your Thermomix Advisor journey and you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

All new joiners have a choice to earn the latest model of Thermomix (currently TM6) if they haven’t participated in the TM6 Earning Programme in the past. This is the best opportunity to get a Thermomix, even if you currently own one. Two is definitely better than one as you have one in your kitchen, and one packed up as a demonstration model.

After the Business Opportunity Meeting, book a Newcomer Cooking Experience and attend the Newcomer Training Workshop. You pick up your Thermomix on this day and are activated that week.

Timeline:

  1. Book Newcomer Cooking Experience with your recruiting Advisor
  2. Pay for loan deposit of £150 for loan Thermomix (fully refundable)
  3. Attend Newcomer Training Workshop on Wednesday at Branch and pick up your loan from Thermomix
  4. Complete mandatory training on e-learning with the support of your Branch Manager
  5. Receive the Advisor number and be ready to place orders on Friday
  6. Throughout the 60 days, you will undertake training online and with your Team Leader. You will also commence running Thermomix® Cooking Demos as soon as possible and achieving your first sales.

If you already had a TM6 or have bought it outright, then you will be earning the standard Advisor commission from your first sale.

If you have chosen to earn your Thermomix TM6 (as detailed above), then each of your first 4 sales contributes to the remaining balance due on your TM6.

Our earn for free with Thermomix is a great program to start your Thermomix Advisor journey and you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Earning Programme – day 1-90

  • 4 TM6 Sales – earn for free
  • 3 TM6 Sales – 80% discount, balance due £237.80
  • 2 TM6 Sales – 50% discount, balance due £594.40
  • 1 TM6 Sale – 20% discount, balance due £951.20

If you already had a TM6 or have bought it outright, then you will be earning the standard Advisor commission from your first sale.

If you have chosen to earn your Thermomix TM6 (as detailed above), then each of your first 4 sales contributes to the remaining balance due on your TM6. If you achieve more than 4 sales in 90 days, then you will earn the standard commission. Your 5th Sale though is double commission.

As a newcomer, you will also be privy to any of the regular Advisor incentives such as a cookbook and accessories or Annual Conference or International Trip criteria.

The 90 days is a great way to see if you have what it takes to be an Advisor. Some love Thermomix and want to share their passion, and have the network, simply hand back your loan Thermomix and time to do this, which is great. I have many Advisors who join just to earn their Thermomix and years later as still enjoying demonstrating.  Others join and realize that it’s not for them. That’s fine too. It’s better to have tried than keep wondering. If the role doesn’t work out, simply return your loan to Thermomix and receive your deposit back.

To schedule, an Opportunity Meeting get in touch.

Thanks, Ankita

Thermomix and Thermomix Friend

What support do I get if I train as an Advisor?

Your Branch Manager is there to support you as you start your new business. They will conduct that you undergo the required face-to-face training at one of our branches, and will also do training directly with you. The initial onboarding training includes the practicalities of conducting a demonstration, in addition to sales training of Thermomix and use of our systems.

You are then handed back to your recruiting Advisor and Team Leader who will support you as much as you need. Being part of a team, means there will also be other team members who are either new and at the same stage as you, or more experienced to support you with your Advisor journey. We’ve all been there so know what it’s like to start a business and are here to hold your hand.

I have been a part of a great team since the beginning, where everyone wants everyone else to succeed.
