Christmas Gift Ideas: Thermomix Friend

Thinking of buying a Christmas gift for someone who has everything, including a Thermomix, then let me introduce you to the Thermomix Friend.

When paired with your Thermomix TM6 or Thermomix TM5, the Thermomix Friend helps you simultaneously prepare multiple courses or even split a recipe into two to cater to varying tastes or dietary requirements. Think of curry in your Thermomix and rice in your Thermomix Friend, or splitting a sauce recipe to make Puttanesca Sauce in one and Tomato sauce in the other.

The Thermomix Friend is connected via Bluetooth to your Thermomix and the on-screen instructions tell you exactly when to transfer bowls of ingredients from one device to the other. The result is everything is prepared on time and cooked to perfection.

The new generation Blade Cover and Peeler not only protects the food during slow cooking and sous-vide cooking but now effortlessly scrubs and peels your potatoes. Why peel potatoes when you don’t have to? With the new Blade Cover & Peeler, your Thermomix TM5 or TM6 will effortlessly peel your potatoes and root veg for you.

Peeling Vegetables

The Blade Cover & Peeler is placed over the blade. To do this, hold it by the central plastic insert and make sure the shaft with the peeler is correctly positioned. Ensure the upward curved parts are on top of the higher positioned blades then press peeler down to secure it to the mixing knife. Place the vegetables in the mixing bowl (max. 800 g). For best results, use vegetables of the same size.
Add 600 g water, regardless of the number of vegetables used, and add 1 tsp oil (optional) to reduce frothing.
When using your Thermomix TM6, secure the lid and measuring cup then start Peeler mode.
With the Thermomix TM5, place the simmering basket on the mixing bowl lid instead of the measuring cup and peel your vegetables 4 minutes/speed 4.
Once the mode has finished, drain the peeled vegetables (retain the nutrient-rich water to water your plants) and continue preparing your recipe.

Sous-vide cooking and slow cooking

Is there a Thermomix Black Friday offer?

Wow, how many times have I been asked if there is a Thermomix Black Friday offer this month. Too many times to mention.

Black Friday is the term for the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, marking the start of the Christmas shopping season. Many employers (in the US) give their employees the day off as part of the Thanksgiving weekend.

Historians believe the name started in Philadelphia in the mid-1960s. Bus drivers and police used ‘Black Friday’ to describe the heavy traffic that would clog the streets the day after Thanksgiving as shoppers headed to the stores that day. The name has stuck ever since.

How did customers in the UK get so wrapped up in an American tradition? A few years ago, I guess. Many countries that support consumerism have jumped on the bandwagon and started Black Friday sales too, currently of the world’s 195 countries an estimated 40-50% ‘celebrate’ Black Friday in some form or the other. In the United Kingdom, we started adopting this 6-7 years ago and I remember the day. I remember how shoppers tuned violent and created stampedes on the news over TVs and sofas.

But with online shopping and a pandemic, shipping delays and petrol shortages, haven’t you realised that there have been offers at all retailers for the whole year? Consumers are waiting for Black Friday weekend offers, but I have seen ‘Early Black Friday’ deals to entice you to spend your Black Friday cash. And where is the Thermomix Black Friday offer, everyone is waiting for?

Vorwerk sells Thermomix via direct sales model, through Advisors. Since COVID we have also started selling online but we do not offer discounts on Thermomix TM6 ever, although occasionally we have head office customer offers. There is one thing I can tell you; we never reduce the price of the Thermomix. We value our product too much to discount it.

TM6 Bundle In November 2020, we did have a Black Friday deal, Vorwerk UK had a bundle of the Thermomix TM6/ Thermomix TM5 for £1599. So our Thermomix TM6 remained at £1149 with the Thermomix TM5 costing £450. The Thermomix TM5 was only sold for a 2-week period and was never available on its own. We only ever sell the latest and current model. I’ll be honest, we had TM5s lying around in the warehouse and we wanted to sell them on and this was a good time to do it. Vorwerk got rid of their stock and many, many customers took advantage of our class digital model at a substantial reduced price. As soon as the Black Friday offer was over, it was over.

But this was last year. Let me repeat this. We had stock of Thermomix TM5s and we needed to get rid of them. The model was already was discontinued and now 18 months old, so this was a way to get rid of stock. It was a fabulous deal for anyone wanting the latest model and a spare, to keep one for yourselves and give them other one to a friend or famuly member. Or even to keep both yourselves, one for your main home and another for your holiday property. There were many reasons why this deal was so great and why we sold so many, it was indeed a superb offer for both the consumer and the company. Customers got an excellent deal and we emptied our warehouses of old stock.

So what’s the deal this year, in 2021? I’ll be honest, I don’t know. The head office has already released November 2021 offers which are Thermomix-Kobold bundles; full details are listed here.

So I hope this helps clarify some of the anxiety I am hearing on the ground, and also the benefit of why buying through an Advisor is so important. We are not just selling you a product, but delivering you a service than can’t be found online. There are too many scammers out there trying to dwindle your hard earned cash with the lure of a discounted Thermomix. Don’t get sucked in.

As we head into the Autumn and back to routines, I’d like to introduce Tasty Thursdays again. I’ll be hosting demonstrations, workshops, and themed events every fortnight at our branch in Greenwich. My Tasty Thursdays are back from September 16th September from 10:30am-noon, every fortnight.

For those wanting to join me in person at our branch, you are welcome to come on in, cook together, and try the food too. I recently did a cooking class at the branch, and it was so nice to see real people

For those who are unable to come in person, then I’ll be offering virtual access via Zoom.
