Christmas Gifting – Mince pies

Christmas is around the corner and homemade Christmas gifts are a great cost-saving and a way to show you care. Here’s a recipe for Mince Pies made in the Thermomix and the cost saving you can have compared to buying it.

Ingredients

Shortcrust Pastry

  • 340 g plain flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 75 g unsalted butter, cold, diced
  • 75 g lard, cold, diced
  • 1 pinch fine sea salt
  • 60 g water, ice cold

Assembly and Baking

  • 400 g mincemeat, gluten free (see tip)
  • milk, for brushing
  • icing sugar, for dusting

Preparation

Shortcrust Pastry

  1. Place flour, butter, lard and salt in mixing bowl then mix Turbo/1 sec/4 times.
  2. Add water and mix 20-30 sec/speed 4 until just clinging together. Tip out and bring together into a ball then wrap in reusable wrap or cling film and chill in fridge for 30 minutes.

Assembly and Baking

  1. After this time, preheat oven to 190°C.
  2. On a lightly-floured surface, roll out rested pastry to 3 mm thick. Cut out 24 circles using a pastry cutter (Ø 7 cm) and use to line 2 x 12 hole bun tins. Re-roll any trimmings then cut out 24 pastry lids using star-shaped, tree-shaped or round fluted (Ø 6.5 cm) cutters.
  3. Place 1 tsp mincemeat in each pastry base then cover with a lid, sealing with a brush of milk if using round lids. Brush tops of lids with milk then bake for 18-20 minutes (190°C) until cooked and golden.
  4. Leave in tin to cool for 2 minutes then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with icing sugar and serve warm or at room temperature.

Hints & Tips

  • Homemade mince pies are a joy to make when you have a Thermomix®. Prepare the mincemeat weeks before you need it, then whip up a batch of crisp, buttery shortcrust pastry in seconds. All that’s left is the fun part; making the pies!
  • Make your own Mincemeat following the recipe on Cookidoo®.
  • Can be made ahead and frozen. Defrost fully before serving.
  • Serve with homemade Brandy Butter, homemade Brandy Sauce or pouring cream. Find recipes on Cookidoo®.

How to buy Thermomix as a gift

A Thermomix as a gift is one of the nicest presents one can receive.  Why? Well, since it’s one appliance that does it all; chopping, mixing, mincing, grinding, kneading, whipping, and juicing, as well as cooking, stirring, and weighing ingredients; then it’s really the only thing you would need in the kitchen.

There really is nothing really like a Thermomix as a wedding gift, housewarming present, for a new baby, or for a big birthday because this kitchen workhorse will be useful several times a week and they last forever. Not to mention the great fun newlyweds or new parents will enjoy together cooking and eating well. Remember, a Thermomix will replace more than 20- other kitchen appliances and will replace all other appliances; say goodbye to your blender, juicer, coffee grinder, food processor, grater, kitchen scales, mincer, mixer, bread maker, ice cream maker and so much more! It cooks and steams. There really is no other appliance on the market that even comes close to offering you the benefits and value you will enjoy with a Thermomix!

I am often asked how to process a gift order, so I thought I’d write a quick blog post giving you step-by-step of all scenarios.

Whether the Thermomix is for you or a loved one, I always advise buying through an Advisor. There are many reasons, all of which I have listed in this previous listing. No matter who the end customer is or where they live, they will be fully supported by me. Since COVID, we have successfully sold all over the UK and I host regularly zoom demonstrations and classes with my team.

Purchases from the UK office can only deliver within the UK, so here is the process will differ where the purchaser resides.

If the purchaser and end-user live in the UK

We create an order using the purchaser’s bank billing address and then the end user’s name, address, email, and mobile phone number for delivery. We need all these details as the Thermomix is delivered using a courier service, DPD, and they send a one-hour delivery window text to the recipient.

To create an order, I will need either to process your order over the phone or if you prefer, I can also arrange a proforma invoice and create a pay-by-link (PBL) for you to pay. This is the easiest and quickest way to process an order, as we can do it on my online Advisor portal but I believe in consumer choice, so whatever you feel most comfortable with, is what we will do.

The purchaser will receive the invoice so the end-user doesn’t see the price, but since the appliance is in their name, they can access all Thermomix user benefits, such as the demonstration and ongoing support with me, cooking classes both online and face-to-face at the local branches, warranty, etc.

If the purchaser is abroad but the end-user lives in the UK

We still need to create an order using the purchaser’s bank billing address and then the end user’s name, address, email, and mobile phone number for delivery. We need all these details as the Thermomix is delivered using a courier service, DPD, and they send a one-hour delivery window text to the recipient.

However, the online portal is not available to those living abroad. We can only do these types of orders via proforma invoice and depending on where you live, can do a pay-by-link as above, or a bank transfer. If you live within the EU, we can do a PBL, however, for the rest of the world, you will need to do a bank transfer.

I still need all the details to create a proforma (the purchaser’s bank billing address and then the end user’s name, address, email, and mobile phone number for delivery), but this time, I will email the office, create a proforma for you and then you will do the bank transfer using the Purchase Invoice details as reference. Bank transfers can either be instantaneous or can take anywhere up to 14 working days to clear, but rest assured, as your dedicated Advisor I will be chasing the office to check when the money has been received and for them to process your order confirmation.

Also: Extended Warranty. I am pleased to say, that we continue to offer an extended 3-year warranty at the point of purchase an add-on for £149. The Thermomix TM6 comes with a 2-year warranty so with this 3-year extension, you have 5-years of peace of mind. If you would like to add this on at the time of purchase, do let me know.

Note: All Thermomix comes with a 6-month Cookidoo subscription, 2-year warranty, and lifetime support with me as your dedicated Advisor. All purchases come with an offer of a virtual demonstration and a welcome visit.
